Supreme Court Rejects Antam’s Request for Judicial Review in Budi Said Lawsuit

Jakarta

The Supreme Court (MA) rejected the request for judicial review (PK) submitted by PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (Antam) regarding Budi Said’s lawsuit. Due to this decision, Antam had to pay 1.1 tons of gold or around Rp. 1.22 trillion to the Surabaya conglomerate.

Antam’s Corporate Secretary Division Head Syarif Faisal Alkadrie said the company respects the legal decision. However, Antam is still waiting to obtain an official copy of the decision in order to study its contents in more detail.

Syarif confirmed that this did not have a material impact on the company’s consolidated financial statements, because the company had recorded provisions in the financial statements prior to the lawsuit in accordance with PSAK 57. The company’s finances were also deemed capable of replacing the 1.1 tons of gold.

“Antam has a solid financial position which is reflected in the position of cash and cash equivalents at the end of the first six months of 2023,” he said in the IDX information disclosure, quoted Saturday (23/9/2023).

As part of its commitment to implementing the principles of good corporate governance, the company ensures that financial management and recording are carried out in a prudent, accountable and transparent manner by paying attention to compliance with applicable financial accounting standards.

“Provisions have been recorded in previous financial reports, guided by the implementation of PSAK 57,” he explained again.

Syarif also said that this had no effect on the company’s operational, legal activities and business continuity. The company, said Syarif, ensures that all business processes run normally by always paying attention to good governance and providing optimal service for customers.

“The company remains optimistic about the operational sustainability of the company’s core commodities (gold, nickel and bauxite) to achieve production and sales targets in 2023, as well as the company’s strategic projects,” he concluded.
