JAKARTA – The fierce battle between Epic Games and Apple should have ended. The reason is, the Supreme Court has decided that Apple must relax anti-monopoly policies in the App Store.
However, Epic Games feels that the App Store’s new policy is inconsistent with legal decisions. Company big tech it allows sales of apps to third parties, Europe only, but still charges a 27 percent commission.
With Apple’s policies making things increasingly difficult for developers, Epic says the company is acting in extremely bad faith. In fact, Epic considers that Apple has no intention of complying with the Supreme Court’s decision.
“Sweeney pointed out that Apple’s solution is ‘anticompetitive’ because developers cannot offer cheaper digital goods on the web after having to pay Apple and other platforms,” an Epic representative told 9to5mac.
The unnamed source added that Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney strongly opposes Apple’s new policy. Therefore, Epic has filed an official complaint with the court.
In fact, the Supreme Court’s decision cannot be challenged. However, Epic Games just wants to file a report showing that Apple is not complying with the Supreme Court’s decision so that the court can take action.
Epic and its attorney filed a complaint with the court on Tuesday, January 30. In the complaint, Epic emphasized that Apple did not properly comply with the court order even though it had allowed payments from outside the App Store.
