New Delhi ∙ The Supreme Court has listed the petitions related to the SNC Lavlin case for hearing tomorrow after a while. A new bench of Justices MR Shah and CT Ravikumar was also constituted in the case. Lavlin’s pleas are listed as case number 21 in courtroom number 4, where the two are being heard.
Meanwhile, the former joint secretary of the energy department A. Francis’s lawyer ML Jishnu gave the letter. Whether this will be allowed will be known only when the case comes up for consideration. It is not clear whether Solicitor General Tushar Mehta will be present as the hearing on same-sex marriage petitions will continue tomorrow. It is crucial for the case that Justice M.R. Shah will retire on May 15 and Justice C. T. Ravikumar, who is a Malayali, is the other person on the bench.
The petition, which was listed 32 times but was not considered due to various reasons, was listed again after 5 months. The CBI’s plea against the 2017 High Court verdict acquitting Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Energy Secretary K.Mohanachandran and Joint Secretary A.Francis was also ordered to face trial by KG Rajasekaran Nair, former financial advisor of the Electricity Board, R.Sivadasan, former chairman of the board, and Kasthuriranga Iyer, former chief engineer. The petitions of and are being considered by the court.
The notice was sent in January 2018. Later the case was listed several times but was not considered. Last November, it was finally listed in the bench presided over by the then Chief Justice U.U. Lalit. Even then it was not considered.
