The United States (USA) imposed sanctions on five companies in Singapore. This step was taken because the five companies supported Russia in the war in Ukraine.
The five companies have also been added to the list of designated nationals by the Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). As of Wednesday, the US had taken action against nearly 400 entities and individuals around the world for helping Russia.
“The Department is trying to disrupt the networks and channels that Russia uses to obtain technology and equipment from organizations in third countries to support its war efforts,” the Department said. US State as stated by CNASaturday (2/11/2024).

The move to designate entities outside of Russia targets producers, exporters and importers of goods essential to Russia’s military industrial base. The US imposed sanctions on the five Singaporean companies last Wednesday, including Powerman International, which designs and manufactures electrical equipment. The US State Department indicated that he worked in the technology sector of the economy of the Russian Federation.
The company, which is headquartered at the Prudential Tower on Cecil Street, has put US$4.5 million worth of items on its priority list, including motherboard and an uninterrupted power supply system from the European Union to companies based in Russia between March 2023 and February this year.
Four other local companies were also identified as part of a network of shipping companies that helped Novatek, Russia’s largest LNG producer, acquire vessels for its operations. Novatek is a controlling shareholder in the Arctic LNG 2 Project
“The Arctic LNG 2 project relies on foreign service company technology and maritime logistics support,” the US State Department said.
