Supporting Residents in La Bachasse District: Social Center Project for Daily Life Assistance, Social Bond, and Access to Social Rights

“The La Bachasse district is one of the districts covered by City policy. In this context, the social center has established a project to support residents, that is to say help in daily life, support in procedures, a social bond, help in accessing social rights , leisure, schooling,” explains Sylvie Bonnemain, the director of the social center.

Emphasis on the internet and computer use

But implementing this project requires a certain number of skills. However, “we had the human skills but we did not have social workers even though they are the ones who have the legal knowledge,” she says. The center has therefore just added the services of Mickaël Numérot, assisted by Hamida Ouali, made available by the Lorette social center and three volunteers. Seniors are their priority even if they help everyone because, insists the director, “we are in a global approach which is financed by the State, the City, Carsat, the Department and the social landlord, the Toit forézien . »

Concretely, initially, the two speakers will focus on the Internet and the use of a computer. “Most procedures are done electronically today and this blocks many seniors” underlines Mickaël who notes “even young people do not always master office tools. »

The project also aims to strengthen, or even create or recreate, social bonds. “After the epidemic, there was a loss of the collective. We need to rehabilitate the animations. » But the residents of the neighborhood themselves deplore the lack of visibility of the social center. “If we want the center to be a place of exchange, it must be well identified” insists Sylvie Bonnemain, which first involves signage and clear identification of the premises.

But there was no question of imposing anything, the facilitators developed three projects, submitted them to a jury made up of residents of different generations, elected officials and the social landlord. “We hope for solidarity between residents. The neighborhood will move. New construction is planned. Our goal is to facilitate the connection. »

In a few days, the center will resume schooling support.

“We have two years to fully establish our program,” concludes Sylvie Bonnemain.
