Supporting Nicken: The Debate on Jahn Teigen’s Legacy and the Proposed Museum

Reader’s letter This is a debate entry, written by an external contributor. The post expresses the writer’s views.

“So nice to be an idiot!” sang the voice from Solvang. Or the boy from Tønsberg. Yes, preferably the Eik supporter too. As a friend of the pop artist, I’m pretty sure he would have smiled his crooked smile and elicited a sly Teigen look if he had been told this.

Maybe except for one thing. He would not have liked, I think, if this became a circus in support of the trade stand and the shops. Don’t get me wrong, I have full empathy for outlets that are struggling. Don’t doubt it.

But by all means, watch out for the danger that follows in the clown’s footsteps if his name is to become a new “Black Friday”, “yellow days on Farmandstredet”, mother’s and father’s day, Tønsberg da’n and I don’t know what…

Yes, I support Nicken with the museum and the concert “Three voices for Teigen” at Foyn. But he was “not like everyone else” he was there.
