Developers seeking to transform Howth Castle into a €10m ($11.8m) retail, food and tourist destination have appealed an Irish council’s decision to bar the construction of a new road to serve the site. Last month, Fingal Co Council granted permission for the scheme, but excluded the road following objections from the Church of Ireland and local residents. The council also imposed four other conditions. The developers, Tetrarch Capital, WSHI UC, and the Michael J Wright hospitality group, have now appealed to An Bord Pleanala to have the road included and to have the conditions removed.
