Dozens of supporters of Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov and the government gathered this evening in front of the Council of Ministers building.
The protest initiative comes against the background of yesterday’s verbal exchange in the parliament between the prime minister and the opposition.
Denkov angered the representatives in it after he addressed the MPs as follows during his initial appearance on the podium: “Dear and disrespected people’s representatives. What we heard today was in line with what I expected.”
In response, the opposition began chanting for his resignation.
Denkov himself explained that he turned to them in this way because he heard a lot of untruths.
Meanwhile, it became clear that the opposition parties will organize a vote of no confidence against the cabinet. “Vazrazhdane” announced this intention already on Wednesday, and it was also supported by ITN. A little earlier today, the BSP also declared their readiness for such a move, specifying that they would even be co-sponsors. According to them, the signatures will be submitted to the parliament today. They need 48 – one fifth of the deputies.
To push the cabinet, the three parties need a majority in parliament, which they do not have. DPS deputy Delyan Peevski announced yesterday that the government is stable and Euro-Atlantic, and GERB leader Boyko Borisov indicated this morning that his party will not overthrow the cabinet.
