The supporter who punched the Sevilla goalkeeper in the match Europa League Two weeks ago he was sentenced. The man was jailed for two months.
Launching the AP, a supporter named Dylano K (name not disclosed in full according to Dutch privacy rules) attacked Sevilla goalkeeper Marko Dmitrovic at the Phillip Stadium, in a match against PSV Eindhoven Of Europa League, last February 24. The supporter entered the pitch and attacked Dmitrovic, even punching him.
The supporter has now been charged by the prosecution with two offences. First he violated the rules of football according to the KNVB regulations, then entered the field under the influence of alcohol.
As a result, the supporter is now subject to prison sanctions. The East Brabant District Court sentenced him to two months behind bars.
“The suspect not only violated the stadium and area restrictions, he also went onto the pitch drunk to attack football players,” the court said.
“This is utter disrespect for the victim, the football club and all true supporters of PSV. In addition, the suspect was convicted twice in 2021 for football-related offences,” the Court said.
UEFA has also investigated PSV over the incident. The Dutch League club was threatened with sanctions for violations caused by the fans.
The action of the supporters had received resistance from Dmitrovic. Even though he was hit by a punch, the Sevilla goalkeeper was able to knock him down on the field, before the officers finally entered to secure the field intruder.
Sevilla itself had lost 0-2 to PSV. However, Los Sevillistas still advanced to the last 16 Europa League thanks to a 3-2 aggregate, after winning 3-0 in the first leg.
