Supporter of mandatory vaccination Andriukaitis: if you can’t get vaccinated, choose another profession

The Social Democrats are convinced that compulsory vaccinations do not violate human rights. In his view, vaccination would be mandatory for those working in the food industry, health care, and many other fields to ensure the safety of people and food.

“If you can’t get vaccinated for health reasons, you have to know that you won’t be able to work in that profession. You will have to choose another, additional profession. There are very strict sanitary requirements for individual professions. (…) This does not mean coercion. For example, compulsory technical inspection of cars: those who drive cars know that it is mandatory. You may not drive the car then. Compulsory social insurance – again, compulsory. You may not be insured, but then do not expect a pension, ”says the former European Commissioner.

He points out that the requirements for compulsory vaccination must be clearly defined by law, as required by the Lithuanian Constitution. According to the politician, the law would also review the issue of compensation for the possible consequences of vaccination.

“Compulsory vaccination also has its own medical indications, conditions, possibilities to determine how to be vaccinated, what can be compensated for vaccination reactions. (…) With regard to compulsory vaccination, there must also be a full legal basis for compensation in the event of an allergic reaction. The law must discuss this precisely and clearly, because otherwise there will be a “hollow” law, “the former commissioner notes.

The politician has no doubt that the Seimas will take into account the current epidemiological situation and understand that mandatory vaccination of certain workers is a legally transparent way to remove many tensions and “empty speeches”.
