Many days of strike have so far been organized, especially in the department via the collective 13 AED, without succeeding in being heard, according to Julien CGT activist and education assistant (AED) in a Marseille high school. “ We are almost ten days on strike and we do not even have the impression of having been noticed », he laments. ” We are the first to tackle the epidemic in schools, our missions are increasingly important since the establishment of the Vigipirate plan (entry and exit of students, surveillance, academic support …) and at the same time our status becomes more and more precarious. »

For the return of status

Indeed, the function of AED is essentially fulfilled by workers on fixed-term contracts or minimum wage and often by students who no longer have the time to study with schedules of up to 36 hours per week. « We want the status of student supervisor to return, in order to be able to continue studying in good conditions. », Explains Julien. “ More generally, what we claim as an educational assistant is simply a real status, with tenure at the end. »
There is also the problem of the REP premium (formerly ZEP) which is not paid to educational assistants who work in sensitive areas. The fight for recognition of the profession is far from won in the face of the silence of academic and government officials. New initiatives have been born, such as that of the Théâtre de la Criée in Marseille, which has opened its doors to people involved in various struggles in recent weeks. Thus, the committed AEDs had the idea of organizing this meal, scheduled between 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. this Saturday, outdoors while respecting barrier gestures.
If the situation of AEDs and school personnel is alarming, the last few weeks have brought back a feeling of abandonment on the part of the public authorities for many trades. General assemblies were held at the Théâtre de la Criée, which allowed everyone to testify, and why not unite the struggles, via unifying events such as the meal offered by the AED this Saturday.
