Support group criticizes President Yoon’s remarks on forced labor in Japan

A support group for victims of forced labor in Japan strongly criticized President Yoon Seok-yeol’s remarks in an interview with the Washington Post, an American daily.

The Citizens’ Group for Forced Mobilization by Japan and the Action for Justice and Peace in History of Korea and Japan issued a joint statement today, saying, “President Yoon suits the Japanese prime minister better,” and said that this interview “showed that he has no intention of demanding an apology from Japan any more.”

They said, “President Yoon should directly explain to the people what Japan did about ‘what happened 100 years ago’.” ” he said.

Previously, in an interview with the Washington Post yesterday, President Yoon said, “Europe has experienced several wars over the past 100 years, and even so, the warring parties have found a way to cooperate for the future.” , I cannot accept the idea that they have to kneel because of a history from 100 years ago.”
