On July 28, 2023, the Applied Research and Analysis Group for Development (GRAAD), Think Tank in collaboration with IPAR held a workshop to share the results of the study called “West African sanitation policy activators-WASPA and delivered the conclusions of the study on private sector investment opportunities in sanitation in Burkina Faso. The participants in the said workshop were able to learn about the research on the ASPG evaluation of sanitation policies in the targeted countries and the opportunities for private sector investment in sanitation in Burkina Faso.
According to current data, it appears that thanks to the dynamism of certain operators and the promotion of public-private partnership (PPP), private investments have experienced significant growth in the sector of drinking water supply, hygiene and sanitation ( WASH). However, the specific sector of sanitation remains poor compared to related sectors as shown by various studies. Faced with the importance of current needs and demand, this situation is paradoxical and difficult to understand in view of the potential that abounds in the sector; hence the relevance of the WASPA research project led by IPAR, a think tank located in Dakar, Senegal, NIYEL and Speak Up Africa. It should be noted that in addition to Burkina Faso, the research work involved Benin, Mali, Niger and Senegal.
