Supply of Combat Vehicles to Ukraine, Russia Warns France

MOSCOW – Russia mentioned government plans French to supply combat vehicle (ranpur) the Ukraine as a reckless move that could escalate escalation. The warning was issued by Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.

“We view the actions of the French authorities as reckless and irresponsible in the context of the Ukraine crisis,” Zakharova said.

“The decision about further arms supply to Ukraine is another step that will trigger a further escalation of the conflict and cause more deaths, including among civilians in new Russian territories that have been attacked by French weapons, in particular the Caesar artillery system,” he continued as quoted from the Russian news agency, TASSFriday (13/1/2023).

The Russian diplomat pointed to a statement by French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna in which she warned that supplying Kiev with the tanks promised by President Emmanuel Macron would make Paris a party to the Ukrainian conflict.

“Why? Don’t be ashamed, because it is,” Zakharova said ironically.

For Zakahrova, France’s provocative decision to supply the Kiev regime with French-made light tanks was like opening a Pandora’s box wider and pushing France deeper into the conflict.

“Paris’s policy of recklessly strengthening Ukraine’s military muscles has exposed the ignorance and duplicity of its desire to avoid an escalation of the conflict and statements about the need to maintain dialogue with Russia and take seriously Moscow’s demands for security guarantees,” he said.

“It is a dichotomy when various institutions controlled by the French government in one way or another make controversial or contradictory statements, or shameless lies, because Paris has effectively twisted the spiral of confrontation while calling to defeat Russia,” he continued.
