The aftermath of the “fake parts” storm in the European and American aviation industry is raging. In September this year, it was revealed that British AOG Technics had used forged certificates to provide fake engine parts to many airlines, raising serious flight safety risks. Ryanair, Europe’s largest low-cost airline, also recently confirmed the presence of AOG engine parts in its supply chain, again causing concern from the outside world.

The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) discovered a few months ago that most of the component authorization certificates provided by AOG were forged, and the actual manufacturer neither had a production certificate nor was the original producer of the part. Since it is very rare for such counterfeit engine parts to infiltrate the supply chain, and it happened to CFM56, “the most common turbofan engine in the world,” it affected the most popular passenger aircraft such as Boeing 737 and Airbus A320. The news immediately caused an uproar. .

During a recent routine maintenance inspection, Ryanair discovered that the certificates for engine parts of two 737 passenger aircraft were forged and were also from AOG. It urgently replaced all problematic parts. CEO Michael O’Leary said last month On the 30th, it stated that the company’s operations would not be affected. In addition, including Ryanair this time, the affected 737 and A320 passenger aircraft of various airlines are “previous generation” versions, and there is no news that new batches are affected.

In addition to Ryanair, Delta Air Lines, American Airlines, and Southwest Airlines are all victims of this fake part. It has not yet been clarified which of the thousands of passenger planes using CFM56 engines around the world , are there still fake AOG parts left? In addition, any object on the aircraft must undergo safety verification to ensure flight safety. If fake parts cannot be equally durable, the lives of passengers around the world will be affected.
