Van der Wees Watertransporten from Dordrecht will not try again on Sunday to maneuver the superyacht Galactica under the railway bridge at Hedel. That failed on Saturday due to a too high water level. A spokesman for the yacht builder reports that another attempt will be made on Monday.
The Galactica departed Saturday morning from Heesen Yachts in Oss to Harlingen to be completed there. The ship is 80 meters long and includes a cinema, a helipad and a 7 meter long swimming pool.
The railway bridge at Hedel had already been identified as a difficult point in advance. After careful fitting and measuring, the water turned out to be 10 to 20 centimeters too high on Saturday and the pusher and tugboat had to turn the superyacht around again. The yacht then anchored in the Koornwaard near Gewande, where it lay all night.
What failed
The water level at the Hedelse railway bridge seems to have dropped somewhat on Sunday, but no attempt is being made to sail the yacht under the bridge today. According to a spokesperson for Heesen, that will only happen on Monday.
The ship will be further completed in Harlingen. In April, the Galactica will go to its new owner, who has paid 100 million euros for this. It has not been disclosed who that is.
