The manager of a café in Medemblik was arrested last night after two supervisors in the case were threatened with death, assaulted and detained against their will. One of the supervisors was slightly injured, the police report.
The regulators checked the cafe just after midnight for compliance with the corona measures. In the cafe they saw that there was insufficient distance and that there was smoking. They therefore took pictures of the situation in the cafe.
When the owner of the cafe saw that it was being checked, he talked to the supervisors. According to the police, this got out of hand and the inspectors were detained, assaulted and threatened with death. Visitors to the café also took the telephone from the inspectors. They deleted the photos that were on the phone, reports NH News.
Alcohol
The inspectors eventually managed to free themselves and alerted the police. The manager of the café arrested them. The man turned out to have been drinking. He’s still stuck.
The municipality of Medemblik is taking administrative action against the café. “Supervisors have been threatened and hindered in their activities,” says Mayor Streng Twitter. “That is unacceptable. Hands off our boas and regulators.”
