Protested from the stage
During the Glastonbury Music Festival in England, Billie Eilish dedicated one of her own songs to those affected by the decision.
– Today is a very dark day for women in the United States. I just have to say this, because I can not think about it anymore, said Eilish from the stage.
After this, she dedicated the song “Your Power”, which is about older men who abuse their position, to everyone who is affected by the decision to remove the right to abortion.
Eilish was not the only artist to protest the decision during the Glastonbury music festival. American singer Phoebe Bridgers also condemned the decision from the stage the same day.
Many will die because of this
When Olivia Rodrigo gave a concert during the same festival yesterday, she did not hold back her feelings about the decision either.
“I am devastated and terrified that so many women and so many girls will die because of this,” Rodrigo said from the stage.
“I wanted to dedicate the next song to the five members of the Supreme Court, who have shown us that they really do not care about freedom,” she continued.
Rodrigo also read out all the names of the five judges who voted for the removal of the federal right to abortion in the United States, saying, “We hate you.”

Is about more than abortion
After the decision became known, it is several celebrities who have taken to social media to have their say. One of these is the singer Alicia Keys (41):
– Damn nonsense! This decision is about more than abortion. It is about who has power over you, who has the authority to make decisions for you and who will control how your future will be, the artist writes in a Twitter message.
Actress and singer Selena Gomez (29) also reacts strongly to the decision.
– To see a constitutional right disappear is terrible. A woman should have the right to CHOOSE what she wants to do with her own body, she writes on Twitter.
The right to self-determined abortion has been secured in the United States through a Supreme Court ruling from 1973, also known as “Roe v. Wade”.
A majority in the Supreme Court (five to four) has now decided to overturn the verdict. This means that the states themselves are allowed to decide whether abortion should be legal.
