Tereza Maková, the winner of the fifth season of Czech-Slovak SuperStar, proved to be one of the most pleasant surprises on the first night of this year’s StarDance competition. Together with her dance partner Daniel Kecskemti, they performed an excellent cha-cha dance, swaying to the famous song of the legendary singer Prince. Judge Tatiana Drexler praised Maková’s singing and Latin temperament, awarding her a respectable 18 points.
“I am happy and enjoyed it, but I was extremely nervous. I didn’t expect such nervousness, and I haven’t felt my hands and feet shake like that in a long time. The choreography was running through my head. But I am glad,” Maková commented on her performance for Expres.cz.
Moderator Marek Eben also admitted that he was quite stressed. We were curious if Tereza had found any recipe to fight nervousness.
“Probably not. I rely on the fact that we have practiced, and muscle memory should work. I try to breathe and calm down, and I always hope that it will turn out somehow and that I have learned something,” Maková said, noting that she, like the other dancers, noticed that the judges were quite strict this time.
“They were definitely strict, but that’s good. We will know where to improve and what to do differently. It’s a bit disappointing, of course, but it’s nice to hear opinions and improve,” said Tereza, who was supported by her friends, partner, sister, and everyone was excited.
Maková was so thrilled that the nervousness she experienced during the first night of StarDance cannot be compared to any other stressful situations.
“This is the worst nervousness I have ever had. The strongest nervousness. It’s something I haven’t done before, and it’s something completely different, the movement itself,” explained Maková.
