According to unconfirmed information from the local television station, the SSC Tuatara should become the fastest production car in the world, but the carmaker plans to make an official statement in a few days.

According to unofficial information from the local television station KPVM-TV from Las Vegas, the American carmaker SSC North America has managed to set a new record for the fastest production car in the world with a new extreme model Tuatara. The carmaker itself is still silent, but we should see an official statement soon.
However, the question arises as to what record the Tuatara model actually broke. If you think that the holder of the title for the fastest serial car is clear, we must disappoint you. Two models are currently vying for this title.

The Guinness Book of Records recognizes the fastest mass-produced Koenigsegg Agera RS, which in 2017 reached a top combined speed of 277.9 miles per hour (approximately 447 km / h) on a highway in the state of Nevada (USA). Koenigsegg was actually even faster, but the Guinness Book of Records requires two runs (in opposite directions) from which the average is finally calculated.

Last year, however, the Bugatti carmaker applied for the same title, whose special Chiron Super Sport 300+ model reached a top speed of 304.7 miles per hour (approx. 490 km / h) on the test track in Ehra-Lessien. However, the Bugatti people did not attempt in the opposite direction, which they justified by a specific surface on the test track, which could be dangerous in the opposite direction.

The record is so unofficial and, moreover, still arouses a number of passions. At the time when the carmaker made a record ride, it was not even certain whether the model would appear in the offer. Only then did the carmaker announce a special limited edition Super Sport 300+, but its maximum speed was limited to “only” 275 miles per hour (approx. 442 km / h).
The people from SSC North America chose the same section of the highway for their experiment, on which Koenigsegg set its speed record. However, given the parameters of the Tuatara model, it is likely that an unofficial record was attacked on a closed section of the public highway – but this time in an official manner.

So if everything went according to plan, then the SSC Tuatara should be the first car to officially break the 300-mile (482.8 km / h) mark. But that would not end the record campaign. A pair of turbocharged 5.9-liter V8s with an output of up to 1305 kW (approx. 1775 hp) should be able to drive the car up to 312 MPH (502 km / h), which would mean the first speeding of 500 km / h in a series-produced car. .
From a report by KPVM-TV, it is clear that SSC North Ameria certainly did not underestimate the preparation. The closed highway was guarded by the police and the experiment itself was filmed from a specially adapted sports car, helicopter and jet plane with a camera attached.
