Most accounts of supernatural events are accepted as nonsense, a play of the light, or an outright lie. One easily dismisses things that one does not understand. And yet, sometimes these phenomena leave a mark on history, changing the world, even if people don’t believe in them.
When something strange happens, our first instinct is to challenge it. When thousands of people see something strange, we have a real problem.
The Miracle of the Sun
The Miracle of the Sun was officially recognized as a true biblical miracle by the Catholic Church on October 13, 1930, two years after it occurred.
At noon on October 13, 1917, in the city of Fatima, Portugal, thousands gather under the storm clouds, which are suddenly torn apart by a dense, rotating disk that begins to ‘ the flash of blinding rays of light. Many believe this is a vision of the Virgin Mary.
No way, right? But tens of thousands of people of various ages watched the 10-minute long event. Despite some theories about cosmic dust and the play of light, science could not explain what happened.
UFO in Roswell
This town might only be known as the birthplace of Demi Moore,
if it weren’t for the theory that inspired a number of supernatural stories (some of them downright ridiculous).
Almost 70 years later, its impact is still felt.
When a weather balloon falls (as the government says) in someone’s bedroom, many erupt with the accusation that it is really aliens. That Area 51 just down the road isn’t much help.
Even though there was no UFO involved in the crash – and there was certainly no alien autopsy – the whole incident is quite a moment in the paranormal community and has changed pop culture to the point of we just hear “Roswell” and think of flying saucers.
Antiquities defy history
According to recent calculations – based on fossils, etc. – modern man has been roaming the Earth for about 200,000 years. However, it took us a long time to start doing something intelligent instead of just fighting over our heads.
How do you explain the falling stones (in the lead photo) – 12,000-year-old disks covered with strange hieroglyphs? Or the fields from Klerksdorp – 3 billion year old stones with engravings on them?
No one is sure. Many dismiss them as spurious products. Ufologists believe that they were left by extraterrestrial beings who inspired humans for civilization.
A sound from the ocean
People spend so much time looking at the stars in search of strange creatures that they forget how many other surprises await us on Earth. However, 95% of the world’s oceans are still unexplored, and below a certain depth the pressure makes it almost impossible. What strange creatures are hiding there?
Our imaginations run even wilder after the US Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration recorded a strange sound deep beneath the waves
– low frequency sound and very powerful, very different from anything we heard before.
The origin of the mysterious sound is about 1,760 km from the location of Cthulhu from Lovecraft’s story, which is scary. This monster hardly causes such a disturbance down there, but nevertheless the sound reminds us that there may be intelligent life waiting to be discovered, just not in the sky.
1. The Battle for Los Angeles
This is perhaps one of the most documented and unsolved mysteries in modern history. These are the facts: from the evening of February 24 to the morning of February 25, 1942, the US military responded to an unknown, unknown attack by enemy forces in the skies over California. A total blackout is ordered, and thousands are mobilized to take up their positions. Fire began with .50-caliber machine guns and artillery, which lasted about an hour. More than 1,400 shells were fired. Several buildings and cars were damaged, and five civilians died – three in accidents and two from heart attacks due to the pressure.
The event takes place a few months after the attack on Pearl Harbor, which means that the Americans have just entered the war and are a little excited. However, they would not shoot at anything.
At first it was believed that it was the second attack by the Japanese, but it soon turned out that it was not.
Secretary of the Navy Frank Knox threw up his hand and called it a “false alarm,” but did not explain the bright lights in the sky that had the military on their feet. UFOlogists believe that this is one of the most important supernatural events in history: first contact.
