Supermarkets, product quality tests
They have increased in our shopping carts significantly in recent years and in 2020 they accounted for 20% of food sold, an expanding market for large-scale distribution (GDO). We are talking about private label products, i.e. those sold under their own brand by supermarkets. Think of Esselunga, Carrefour or Coop pesto. Il Salvagente, a monthly magazine specializing in laboratory tests against consumer fraud, carried out a survey on the quality of 38 “branded” foods drawing up a ranking of the best supermarkets (both for conventional and organic products).
