Superliga table upset as Sesc-Flamengo secures victory over Minas

In front of a packed Tijuca Tennis Club, Sabrina’s star shone brighter this Friday night. In the reissue of the Copa Brasil semifinal, Sesc-Flamengo defeated Minas by 3 sets to 1 (22/25, 25/21, 25/16 and 25/22) and guaranteed the return to the G-4 of the women’s Superliga 22/ 23. The opponent scored 26 points, was elected the best on the court and received the Viva Vôlei Trophy.

With the 3-1 victory, Sesc-Flamengo went to 39 points, left Fluminense behind and touched Minas, which has 40. Now, the cariocas return to fourth place.

Sesc-Fla returns to the court against São Caetano next Friday (24th), at 7:30 pm, at the Complexo Poliesportivo Lauro Gomes, in São Paulo. The Belo Horizonte team receives Sesi-Bauru on the same day, at 21:30, with transmission by sportv2.

Under boos, Pri Heldes started the duel, and Sabrina opened the scoring in the side-out. Central Valquiria made the first blocking point of the game, allowing the advantage, but Pri Daroit then responded in kind. Minas’ turnaround came during Kisy’s passage through the serve and, despite the rally, the visitors were patient and made it 9 to 6 after the start and Carol Gattaz’s ace.

With the defensive system alert, the team led by Bernardinho pulled over and created counterattacks to equalize. However, it did not define, and the rivals kept two points ahead. The tie came at 15 to 15, after Peña made two mistakes in attack. The match heated up. In the final straight, Pri Daroit had a good pass through the serve, Sesc-Fla’s ball output didn’t work, and Peña put it on the ground to make it 25 to 22.

The teams maintained balance at the start of the second half. If Brie King got an ace and forced the replacement of Pri Daroit, on the other hand, Thaísa raised the confidence level of her companions on the same basis. The setter Brie King, in a second ball, was the one who vented the attack and relieved the club from Rio (9 to 8).

With Juciely on the serve, Sesc-Fla took off and gained confidence, forcing two time-outs from rivals, who reacted. The difference dropped, and Bernardinho also had to stop the game, but Sabrina took off ignoring Thaísa’s block and made it 23 to 16. Once again, the set ended in an ace, this time by Michelle: 25 to 16.

The fourth set was worth a lot for both teams. For Sesc-Flamengo, the chance to settle the match 3-1 and return to the competition’s G-4. On the other hand, the hope of forcing a tie-break and staying close to vice-leader Osasco. The partial was played point by point, but at the decisive moment, the team commanded by Bernardinho won and made it 23 to 20. To consecrate the victory, Sabrina put it on the ground.
