Superip for the best high performance smartphones of the year

Qualcomm with the current Snapdragon 8 gen 1 mobile top chip sign changed. The new processor for the fifth year will therefore bear the designation 8 gen 2, and its expected mid-year version will most likely be called 8+ gen 2. But let’s move on, for now there is a basic variant.

Using the 4nm manufacturing process as a predecessor, the transition to the 3nm process will take about five years. Even so, there is still much work to be done. Qualcomm changed the ipu architecture. Instead of the basic 1+3+4 configuration peel to 1+4+3. This means that, in addition to one complementary core, the novelty has two performance cores, instead of only controversial ones. To be a relatively competitive Mediatek, it has the usual 1+3+4 configuration.

Both processors have the more powerful Cortex-X3 core. The new Snapdragon is clocked at 3.2GHz, while the competitor is clocked at 3.05GHz. The trio of internal Cortex A-715 cores are clocked at 2.8GHz, Mediatek clocks at 2.85GHz And the Cortex A-510 cores in question have a clock speed of 2 GHz, for Mediatek it is 1.8 GHz.

Both processors use different graphics. Qualcomm used Adreno 740, Mediatek opted for Mali-G715 Immortalis MC11. Both IPs support Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, 5G st and LTE category 24. Snapdragon supports different display sizes and supports 200 Mpix cameras. The video is 8K resolution at 60fps, the Dimension 9200 still has the same resolution, but only at half the frame rate.

Adreno graphics support hardware accelerated Ray Tracing, the performance difference from the current top Snapdragon is 25% more. The manufacturer also points out that the graphics should consume about 45% of the energy. But Qualcomm has not yet published detailed graphics specifications.

Performance tests are available for both processors. In Antutu, Dimension 9200 leads by 8% with 1.26 million points, Snapdragon with 1.17 million points. But some sources indicate that Snapdragon’s clock speed is around 1.25 million points, so the results are very balanced.

In GeekBench 5, the Snapdragon leads by 18% in the single-core test, while the Dimensty leads by 5% in the multi-core test. It is significant that according to the test, the new Snapadragon has 25% more performance than 8 + gen 1 and even 38% more than 8 gen 1. In the case of graphics, this is 25% more of performance compared to Snadragon 8 gen 1 .

The first phones with the new Snapdragon 8 gen 2 will likely be introduced in late summer. Adopt him, you have all the signs, perhaps the European version of the patch top Samsung S23 will also understand this. With the Mediatek Dimensity 9200 it will be particularly difficult. Pedchoz’s leading IP manufacturers use primary Japanese characters, especially for models for the domestic market. In Europe, however, only two are visible on mobile phones.
