FIFA and Conmebol sent a letter to the CBF expressing concern about the Common Court’s decision to remove President Ednaldo Rodrigues. In the document, the entity and Conmebol say that they will send representatives to Brazil and ask that the election in the entity wait until this visit is completed for the entities to analyze the situation.

FIFA and Conmebol also understood as incorrect the appointment of the president of the STJD, José Perdiz, as intervenor of the entity, made by the Court of Justice of Rio de Janeiro. In the view of the entities, the oldest director of the CBF, in this case Hélio Santos Menezes (director of compliance and governance), should have taken over the management of the entity with the vacancy of presidents and vice-presidents, as required by the CBF statute. Thus, the entity states that it does not recognize the intervener as a representative of the CBF, only Hélio Menezes.

The acting president of the CBF, José Perdiz, praised FIFA’s participation in the election process through his press office: “It is with satisfaction and respect that we received the letter from FIFA. I see it as a positive sign that we have the entity following the electoral process at the CBF. As determined by the Brazilian Justice, confirmed by the STJ, I will call the elections within 30 days, within the required transparency and fairness”. He did not comment, however, on the fact that the entity did not recognize him as an intervener.
