Super Sons T. 4 – By Peter J. Tomasi, Patrick Gleason & (…)

The first two albums had pleased us relatively, but the third left a mixed feeling. This fourth and final volume [1] confirms what could be feared: the rapid exhaustion of the concept and a title that plays only on this level.

In this conclusion, not final because the two rascals will return for a sequel, two great stories share the limelight. If they prove effective, they lack originality and do not really offer new development.

So, in the first, Talia al Ghul returns once again to try to get her son, Damian back. For this, she accepts an assassination contract targeting Lois Lane, Jon’s mother. A nice family adventure but the course of which remains marked.

The second and final part sees the return of the juvenile villain introduced in the first volume, the aptly named Kid Amazo, who comes to take his revenge. Essentially focused on action, and teamwork of the duo, a rather pleasant adventure if not memorable.

A short story on Christmas and an entire episode devoted to Super-Animals are also on the program of this album which remains a pleasant read. Jon and Damian are well characterized and their dynamic mischievous and touching, but on the “adventure” side the story remains in a generic framework without much particular theme.
