The Food and Drug Administration recently announced the results of a random inspection of “pesticide residues” and found that 80 pieces of agricultural products did not meet the regulations. “Toxic vegetables” are in the market across Taiwan, in the north, middle and south, not only in wet markets, mass merchandisers Quanlian, Carrefour, and Meilianshe, There are also hot pot restaurants in Mala, Chikuma and Chiba.
During July and August, the Food and Drug Administration conducted random inspections in Keelung, Yilan, Taipei, New Taipei, Taoyuan, Taichung, Kaohsiung, Pingtung and other counties and cities across Taiwan. A total of 944 fruits and vegetables were sampled and 80 of them did not meet the regulations, including 27. The case is still being traced.
Among the vegetables and fruits with the highest non-compliance rate are leafy vegetables, including green onions, green vegetables, nine-story pagodas, celery, garlic sprouts, chive flowers, etc. During this random inspection, banned herbs Ametryn and Chlormequat were found, as well as residual pesticides such as Chlorpyrifos and Fipronil.
