SUPER NINTENDO WORLD™ is now open now at Universal Studios Hollywood and the game begins when the excited visitors enter the giant green pipe in the Mushroom Kingdom, to experience the highly immersive and interactive theme world to become an integral part of the exciting universe of Mario, Luigi and Princess Peach.
Helping officiate today’s opening were Shigeru Miyamoto, Representative Director and Member of Nintendo Co. Ltd. and Scott Strobl, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Universal Studios Hollywood, who were joined by Mario, Luigi and Princess Peach and a crowd of very enthusiastic people, fans and visitors.

SUPER NINTENDO WORLD is an all-new and visually spectacular themed world, located within an expanded area of Universal Studios Hollywood. Within the vibrancy of colors and architectural ingenuity, the world presents the innovative “Mario Kart™: Bowser’s Challenge” ride, as well as many interactive activities to engage the whole family in the captivating Mushroom Kingdom.
Along with themed dining at the Toadstool Cafe™ and shopping at the 1-UP Factory™ retail store, SUPER NINTENDO WORLD is an inspiring and revolutionary addition to the world-famous theme park.
From the moment guests step through the iconic green pipe, an experience of exploration, discovery and play awaits them unlike anything they’ve ever experienced before. Your tour begins as you enter Peach’s Castle before venturing further into the colorful Mushroom Kingdom. Take a look, this is SUPER NINTENDO WORLD:
“Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge”: Inspired by the popular Mario Kart™ video game series, this all-new, technologically advanced attraction seamlessly blends cutting-edge augmented reality (AR) with projection mapping technology and real-world scenarios along a moving track. Against a multi-sensory backdrop of color, sound, and motion, guests sit in stadium-style four-seat vehicles as they navigate family-friendly tours through the creative use and integration of eyewear (goggles) AR head mounted. This unique feature, it’s a key point of differentiation that sets this ride apart from other theme park attractions.
The premise of “Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge” is simple but equally inspiring and challenging, attracting visitors of all ages, regardless of their gaming experience. As part of Team Mario, guests navigate through underwater courses and cloud courses to compete for the Gold Cup while collecting digital coins to defeat Team Bowser and win. “Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge” raises the stakes for guests as an intriguing and repeatable journey with a variety of outcomes.
Mount Beanpole: This imposing structure is located at the heart of the theme world, and is the entrance to the attraction “Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge”.
Bowser’s Castle: Adorned with an impressive sculpture of a large and powerful Bowser, this structure serves as a key centerpiece of the themed world, home to SUPER NINTENDO WORLD’s signature ride, “Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge.” As guests make their way through the halls and through the hall of medallions and ominous castle trophies toward the attraction, they learn more about Bowser’s calculating plans to defeat Team Mario for the coveted Gold Cup.
Power-Up Band™: These state-of-the-art, wearable wristbands sync with Universal Studios Hollywood official free downloadable app to enhance the visitor experience within the themed world and enhance its many interactive elements. These include, but are not limited to, keeping individual and team scores, collecting digital coins, and obtaining keys after winning Key Challenges throughout the themed world. When riding “Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge,” guests are encouraged to play their Power-Up Band on the wheel of the ride vehicle. By doing so, they can track the digital coins collected, as well as compare their ranking with friends and family, when synced with the Universal Studios Hollywood app. They are available in six character-themed design options and can be purchased both within the themed world and at SUPER NINTENDO WORLD retail stores located within the theme park and at Universal CityWalk Hollywood.
Interactive Gameplay: Within the theme world, visitors can enjoy many interactive areas, including punching ? Blocks for collecting digital coins. They will discover a new dimension of SUPER NINTENDO WORLD through the interactive binoculars placed inside the themed world, using augmented reality technology. Guests can also collect keys after winning the Goomba Crazy Crank, Koopa Troopa POWer Punch, Piranha Plant Nap Mishap, and Thwomp Panel Panic key challenges – collecting at least three keys will ultimately allow access to the final battle (boss battle) con Bowser Jr.
Toadstool Cafe™: The themed world’s signature restaurant, Toadstool Cafe, serves a delicious menu perfected by Chef Toad, who greets guests upon arrival. Menu items made fresh daily include Toadstool Cheesy Garlic Knots, Super Mushroom Soup, Piranha Plant Caprese, Mario Bacon Cheeseburger, Luigi Pesto Chicken Burger, ? Tiramisu Block and Princess Peach Cupcake.
