Super Mario Bros. Wonder won’t offer difficulty levels, such as easy or hard modes, but it will allow players to fine-tune the amount of challenge they want in a number of ways.
It all comes down to the character you choose and the badge you use when considering difficulty, producer Takashi Tezuka and director Shiro Mouri said in an interview at Gamescom.
“We’ve really increased the freedom of users and their freedom of choice,”Die said.“Characters like Yoshi and Nabbit don’t take damage even if they get hit. Besides that, this game has another feature, which is the badge system. So, by equipping certain badges, you can make your characters perform Certain actions. But there are also other types of badges, for example, that give you more gold, or if you back off, it restores you and revives you.So we think this badge system allows players of different levels to enjoy the game in different ways. Therefore, we even prepare very difficult courses. So if you think you have that experience, then we look forward to you taking up the challenge.
So, essentially, the difficulty seems to be how you perceive it in Super Mario Bros. Wonder. It’s worth noting that if you choose Nabbit or Yoshi, you’ll still die, since they’re not immune to falls. However, if you’re looking for a bigger challenge, you can still expect to find it in this new game.
Super Mario Bros. Wonder launches on Nintendo Switch on October 20.
