Roko Simic shot himself into the hearts of the FCZ in his first assignment.
Roko Simic (19) needed fifteen minutes to make a name for himself in the Super League. In the 77th minute coach Bo Henriksen substituted him for the pale Okita when the score was 0:2. In the end it was 2:2 because Simic scored twice and saved FCZ from a false start in the second half of the season. The 2,500 FCZ fans who traveled with them celebrate their new hero.
Simic has only been in Zurich for almost twenty days. The son of ex-Milan defender Dario Simic came on loan from Redbull Salzburg. The loan lasts six months with no purchase option. Because in the city of Mozart, people still think highly of him. But because he wanted match practice, he was loaned out. Lucky for the FCZ.
At the beginning of a great career?
Sports director Jurendic said before the first game: “We wanted additions to Tosin, Okita and Santini in the storm, who were already there. We have other types of players up front now. Simic is a classic centre-forward.” The new one knows where the goal is. He has already proven this several times in his young career. His style of play is totally in line with the bulls’ philosophy. He runs a lot and high, has a lot of dynamics and just as much power.
Not only in Salzburg, but also in his home country Croatia, they trust Simic to have a great career. He should continue the tradition of accurate strikers. Again and again he is compared to the young Mario Mandzukic. Simic may not yet have an international cap, but with seven goals in 14 U21 internationals he has a strong record as a junior.
Dream debut with dream volley
Now Simic is trying to break through at club level. Last season he was loaned out to Salzburg’s partner club Liefering in Austria’s second division, where he played with Swiss Federico Crescenti (18). He has scored 19 goals in 24 games. Reason enough for Salzburg to bring him back. In the first half of the season, however, he was only used sporadically. Therefore now the step into the Super League to FCZ.
The debut is more than successful. If he confirms the first impression, Henriksen brings him up soon from the 1st minute. In any case, the previously seeded Okita and Tosin have to defend their place more than ever. Simic’s opponents are also warned. You’ve known since Saturday that you can’t just let him shoot like that. Otherwise you ask the FCL to know what can happen. Because they should still be wondering how Simic volleyed the ball up into the right angle to make it 1: 2.
