Another three files containing Super League 2 games, which are suspected of being manipulated for betting purposes, were sent by UEFA to the EPO. The Federation forwarded the files to the Parliament and the chairman of the Education Committee, Christos Kellas, made them public. These are the following matches:
February 14: Victory of Volos – Aeolik 3-1
February 22 Victory of Volos – Apollon Pontos 5-0
February 25 Apollon Pontou – Makedonikos 0-3
In the UEFA report on the match between Niki Volos and Apollon Pontou, the following is noted: “A lot of money was played for Apollon Pontou to lose in the first half and lose by passively at least 2 goals in a match that would have had at least three goals. It is estimated that the visiting team may have participated in the manipulation.” In the report it is noted that the coach Dimitris Kalaitzidis was on the bench of Apollon P. in 10 “suspicious” matches (ss: no such thing has been proven).
For the Niki Volou – Aeolikos victory, it is noted that there was a bet to score at least 4 goals. The report also mentions a Niki football player who was involved in a “suspicious” match when he was playing for Apollon Larissa.
For the game between Apollon Pontos and Makedonikos, the bets were for the home team to lose the match by at least 2 goals and to score at least 3 goals in the 90th minute.
