“Super Cyclone ‘Mucha’ Causes Devastation in Myanmar’s Rakhine State”

CCTV news client super cyclone “Mucha” landed in Sittwe, Kyaukpyu and other places in the Rakhine State of western Myanmar at noon local time on May 14. The maximum wind speed when it landed reached 209 kilometers per hour to 220 kilometers per hour .

According to local media reports, “Muchha” has brought serious disasters to many places in Rakhine State, and there have been reports of casualties. Myanmar’s military and police forces, fire departments, and various social organizations are organizing rescue efforts.

At present, “Mucha” continues to move towards Magway Province and Chin State in the northeast of Rakhine State. It is expected that in the next 24 hours, the wind of “Mucha” will gradually weaken, but it will still be strong, with a maximum wind speed of 145 kilometers per hour to 160 kilometers per hour. The Myanmar Meteorological Department continues to issue brown storm warnings, reminding inland mountainous areas to be alert to geological disasters such as flash floods, mudslides, and landslides.
