The holder of the Olympiacos trophy qualified for tomorrow’s Super Cup final with great difficulty. Giorgos Bartzokas’ team defeated Peristeri 79-74 (halftime 41-34) in the second semi-final in Rhodes.
Peristeri “overturned” the match in the third period, when it overturned a double-digit deficit (34-22, 41-31) and took a 53-61 lead. However, Olympiakos overtook again with back-to-back 3-pointers from Walkup, Vildosa (70-65) and kept a narrow lead until the end.
Olympiacos had Vezenkov 20, Petrusev 18, Dorsey 7, Wright 7, Williams-Goss 6. Evan Fournier scored 7 points in his official debut. The injured Fal, Milutinov were absent.
Kofi (19), Carberry (14), Paton (11), Eddy (12), Papas (7) stood out from the valiant Peristeri of Giorgos Limniatis.
The title match, the first “eternal” derby of the year, is scheduled for Sunday evening at 8.30 pm, while it will be preceded (5.15 pm) by the minor final between Peristeri and Aris.
Earlier, in the first semi-final, Panathinaikos defeated Aris 81-68, with 16 points from Nan, 11 from Kalaitzakis and 9 from Slukas. Osman, Brown did not play.
