Lightning players will be watching the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl game with a keen eye on Sunday. Needless to say who they will encourage.
“We hope the Bucs can finish the job and that we have two champion teams in the city at the same time,” forward Alex Killorn said in an interview with NHL.com.
“If they win and they do a boat parade, I jump on my jet ski [pour aller les rejoindre], that’s for sure, ”added the Montrealer, who had fun like crazy when the Lightning paraded on the water to celebrate his conquest of the Stanley Cup last September.

The Lightning players are some of the Buccaneers’ biggest supporters. The latter had also welcomed them to Raymond James Stadium last fall to mark their victory against the Dallas Stars in the Stanley Cup final.
Celebrate from afar
Unfortunately for members of the Lightning, they cannot participate in the celebrations surrounding the Super Bowl, presented in Tampa, due to the NHL’s protocol for COVID-19.
“I really wish we could celebrate that with all the fans here in Tampa,” said Steven Stamkos. These are great sporting moments for this city, which really deserves it. ”
Stamkos revealed that he also felt a lot of excitement when the Tampa Bay Rays faced the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series last fall.
“You kind of dream of being a professional athlete in other sports too,” said the Lightning captain. I look at these guys and I admire them. They inspire us all as athletes because of what they have had to go through to achieve their dreams. ”
Blake Coleman also has Super Bowl fever this year. He doesn’t hesitate to show his support for the Bucs and their legendary quarterback Tom Brady.
“First of all, I’m a big football fan. I’m that basically, but when it’s the team for your city, it’s really fun, said the forward. On top of that, you get to watch one of the best football players of all time. My family appreciates it very much. It is cool how much joy and fun connecting with a city can bring. ”
