Super agent Jorge Mendes has reportedly asked Atletico Madrid to let go of Portuguese forward, Joao Felix.
As reported ReliefMendes in a bid to speed up Felix’s departure from Atletico Madrid and held a one-on-one meeting with representatives of the club in the Spanish capital on Friday (6/1).
Man United manager Erik ten Hag has made no secret of needing reinforcements in the January transfer market, especially in the offensive sector after Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract was terminated last November.
Mendes and Atletico Madrid chief executive Miguel Angel Gil Marin held a meeting at Aarde, a well-known Madrid restaurant, to smooth out the 23-year-old striker who is reportedly unhappy.
Man United have been following Felix’s situation and are said to have also submitted a loan offer worth £3.5m and are ready to pay his wages for the rest of the season. The Red Devils’ offer is known to fall short of Atletico’s £11m bid.
Manchester United plan to take Felix on loan with no permanent option. Understandably, the most expensive player contract in Atletico’s history, recruited by Benfica for €126m in July 2019, is still valid until June 2026.
If Felix is not insured, United are still believed to have alternatives. So far, the Old Trafford ground has also been closely linked with AC Milan striker Olivier Giroud and Borussia Monchengladbach spearhead Marcus Thuram.
