Canadians will be able to return for a vacation to the Caribbean next winter. The airline Sunwing will offer direct flights from Thunder Bay (Ontario, Canada) to Cuba, Mexico and the Dominican Republic from December 2021 to April 2022.
The Canadian airline’s schedule for winter flights is as follows:
- Cuba: Sunwing will fly to Varadero all the Tuesday from December 14, 2021 to April 19, 2022.
- Mexico: Will fly to Cancún all the Monday from December 13, 2021 to April 18, 2022.
- Dominican Republic: Will fly to Punta Cana all the Wednesday from December 15 to April 20.
Sunwing’s President of Tourism Operations, Andrew Dawson, explained that the service offered by the airline from Thunder Bay Airport has always been very popular with its customers. In fact, the next winter season will be the 16th consecutive year in which the company operates from said aerodrome.
“We are very excited that Sunwing returns to Thunder Bay this winter and we appreciate the confidence after a difficult year for our industry,” he celebrated. Ed Schmidtke, President and CEO of the Thunder Bay International Airports Authority, where air traffic has been reduced by 80% due to the pandemic.
As the newspaper remembers Tb News Watch, Canadian airlines voluntarily stopped flying to Caribbean destinations at the beginning of the year, in an attempt to discourage travel and thus curb the spread of Covid-19.
