FC Seoul’s veteran midfielder Ki Sung-yong (32) has declared a head-on breakthrough in connection with the suspicion that he committed sexual violence to a junior in the soccer team when he was in elementary school.
Ki Sung-yong announced his policy to fully deny the allegations and respond legally for about 30 minutes by holding a press conference after the official opening game of HanawonQ K League 1 2021 in Seoul and Jeonbuk held at Jeonju World Cup Stadium on the 27th.
Ki Sung-yong said, “(The content of sexual violence suspicion) is irrelevant to me, and I have never done that. I can never admit it.” “I don’t know if I don’t talk about it, and I don’t know if I’m driving public opinion.”
On the 24th, Mrs. C and Mrs. D claimed through lawyer Park Ji-hoon that they were sexually assaulted by their seniors A and B in January-June 2000 while they were in soccer at an elementary school in Jeonnam. They did not mention Ki Sung-yong’s name, but it could be assumed that Player A was Ki Sung-yong.
On the 26th, Mr. C and Mr. D claimed that Ki Sung-yong had been putting pressure on them. I told the media through a lawyer.
Ki Sung-yong said, “(Recording files, etc.) didn’t come,” he said. “(Attorney Park) said to send after talking with the’victim’ side, but it hasn’t come yet.” At the same time, he emphasized that there was no’appropriation’ or’blackmail’.
He said, “I haven’t talked about money,” he stressed, “I haven’t been convicted. If there is evidence, you can show it out.”
In particular, Ki Sung-yong pointed out that Mr. C and Mr. D were perpetrators of school violence in 2004, saying, “People who have been severely damaged by them continue to appear. “Why would they contact me if I did abusive behavior?” he said, “There are so many people who can testify (for me) about the situation at the time (elementary soccer club’s accommodation).”
Ki Sung-yong said he did not know for what reason the exposers were claiming the damage, and emphasized that he will deal with this case hard to the end without mercy.
