With the takeover, Sunfire can now use the Swiss technology on a broad front and add an important component to its range of products. “We now have a unique portfolio with which we can cover all applications in the hydrogen and e-fuel sector,” says CEO Aldag.
For a long time it was pretty quiet around the electrolysis manufacturers, but since countries around the world launched massive hydrogen subsidy programs against climate change last year, the business is facing a huge boom. The European Union alone has set itself the goal of building 40,000 megawatts of electrolysis capacity by the end of the decade. Australia, Saudi Arabia, Chile and the Mediterranean countries also have ambitious plans.
