Sundt’s prize is awarded to the redevelopment of Munthes gate 29, from offices to apartments.

– It is a struggle every day to get good projects. That others see it, we appreciate, says Thomas Thorsnes, general manager and partner in R21 Architects.

– I am very happy, on behalf of the office and the staff. But you do not get to projects like this alone. The award also goes to the contractor and the builder, who have trusted us. It is especially important in transformation or “rehab projects”, where the road becomes a little longer while walking, says Thorsnes.

Munthes gate 29 was designed by the architectural firm Eliassen and Lambertz-Nilssen and was completed in 1973 as offices for the Norwegian Research Council for General Sciences. The neighboring building in Munthes gate 31, designed in the same design language and designed by the same office in collaboration with Molle and Per Cappelen, received the Sundt prize in 1961. The new edition of Munthes gate 29 was completed in 2019, with nine homes in varying sizes from 77 to 196 m²
