‘Sunday open’: Meerbeck’s gym is open on Sundays

Primary school gymnasiums are often not used on Sundays. ‘Open Sunday’ wants to change that. The pilot project in Moers is the Meerbeck Clock School. It starts next Sunday (November 27). From 13:30 to 16:30 schoolchildren with their siblings (1st to 6th grade) can use the exercise offer in the gymnasium at Römerstraße 708. Every Open Sunday begins and ends with a game. There are freely selectable stations, e.g. B. a course in roller boarding, swinging and jumping or small field hockey and juggling, as well as drinking and fruit breaks together.

Pleasure in games and sports clearly evident

‘Open Sunday’ was initiated by the Essen non-profit association ‘Integration through Sport and Education’ in various cities. It is committed to the equal participation of all people in exercise, games and sports. Children can let off steam in their immediate social area. They are accompanied by educators, students and young coaches. Experiences of ‘Open Sunday’ in other cities are positive. In the three hours of intense exercise, the children’s enjoyment of games and sports is clearly felt and social interaction is strengthened.
