Sunday night code yellow due to slipperiness, skating fun ended after the weekend | Interior

The KNMI warns that there is a possibility of slipperiness due to black ice tomorrow evening. The yellow code will therefore be in force throughout the national territory. And those who want to skate can probably only do it tomorrow, before it thaws noticeably after the weekend.

It will rain in many parts of the country on Sunday evening. Precipitation on an icy surface can cause slipperiness. The rain should last several hours and then gradually dissipate. In Zeeland, in the southwest of the country, the yellow code therefore applies on Sundays from 18:00 to 22:00. In Groningen in the northeast, the yellow code is only given between 10pm and 2am on Monday mornings.

In recent days the yellow code has been issued more often due to the winter weather. Code orange was even applied last Thursday for insidious slipperiness.

End of frost

The skating took place on Saturday in various places in the Netherlands. Anyone who wants to try again on skates will only be able to do so tomorrow. A blanket of warmer air will fall over the Netherlands on Monday morning and the freezing period will come to an end.

It will rain here and there on Monday. “In the northeast it’s about 5 degrees, while in the southwest and south double digits may already be tapped,” writes Weerplaza. According to the weather station, there is no more slipperiness in the night from Monday to Tuesday.
