According to Jeonnam Province and Suncheon City on the 3rd, it was tentatively identified that 16 hectares of forest were burnt due to a forest fire that occurred around 2:13 p.m.

Two nearby vinyl houses were also burned down.

There were no casualties, but 60 residents of 39 households in 2 myeons evacuated to myeon offices and village halls in preparation for possible spread.

The number of people evacuated by region is 20 people (8 households) in Judong Village, Woldung-myeon, 20 people (15 households) in Yongam Village, Hwangjeon-myeon, and 36 people (16 households) in Baekyama Village.

The forest authorities have issued a ‘Forest Fire Level 2’ to put out the flames before sunset.

Currently, 21 helicopters, 28 extinguishing vehicles, and 307 people are working to extinguish the forest fire with additional helicopters, equipment, and manpower around Suncheon.

It was investigated that this wildfire was caused by the incineration of by-products in a nearby orchard.
