Sunak is worried about a possible Israeli offensive on Rafah

Prime Minister of Great Britain Rishi Sunak expressed concern about the prospect of Israel’s military operation in the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip.

As reported by Ukrinform, it is reported Sky News.

Sunak noted that the offensive operation will endanger the lives of the civilian population and the aid coming to Gaza. He added that he had repeatedly warned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about this.

The British Prime Minister added that now the priority for all parties to the conflict should be to reach an agreement that would ensure the release of all Israeli hostages and a temporary ceasefire.

“This is the best way to end suffering, and this is what I will continue to urge all parties to do,” Sunak emphasized.

As Ukrinform reported, on May 6, the Israeli army ordered tens of thousands of people in the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip to begin evacuation before a ground military operation.

At the same time, EU High Representative Josep Borrell called on Israel to abandon the offensive on Rafah.
