The British Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, regretted this Friday “the terrible news” of the death in prison of the Russian opponent Alexei Navalny and recalled his bravery as a great defender of democracy in Russia.
«It is terrible news. “Alexei Navalny, the staunchest defender of democracy in Russia, demonstrated incredible courage throughout his life,” stated the conservative leader in his X account.
“My thoughts are with his wife and with the people of Russia, for whom this is an enormous tragedy,” he added.
According to the Russian prison services, the president’s opponent Vladimir Putinwho was 47 years old, was walking in the Arctic prison where he was serving a 30-year sentence when he felt unwell.
These sources said that the politician lost consciousness and, although medical services treated him immediately, they could not save his life. EFE
