LIVE Techno – The universe is full of mysterious galaxies, systems and planets. Despite the many successes of the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) in exploring the early universe, outer space continues to baffle and surprise scientists.
One of the latest surprises to come from eclipse bintang rarewhich keeps a star shrouded in dust from its companion for more than seven years.
Astronomers say the discovery is one of extraordinary luck because the binary system that houses the star has a very long orbital period.
Thus, capturing the observation of this rare stellar eclipse was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and astronomers managed to catch it, quoting from the BGR website, Monday, January 16, 2023.
The star is known as Gaia17bpp. According to astronomers Anastasios Tzanidakis and James Davenport, their attention was drawn to the system when Gaia surveys showed that the star gradually brightened over two and a half years.
Star analysis shows that it has not changed. Instead, an object similar to Sun it emerges from a rare eclipse caused by its companion star.

The new findings, along with data from Gaia, show that Gaia17bpp has dimmed by about 4.5 magnitudes – about 63 times its average brightness. The rare eclipsing star remained dim for nearly seven years, from 2012 to 2019.
