The South African team, Sun Downs, achieved an easy victory over its host, Bumamuru of Burundi, with four goals to none, in the confrontation that was held between them today, Friday, in the first leg of the round of 32 of the African Champions League competition in the current season 2023-2024.

Sun Downs’ goals in today’s match were scored by: Lucas Ribeiro, two goals in the 12th and 37th minutes, Lesiba Nkou in the 41st minute, and Peter Shalulile in the 79th minute of the match.

The return match between Sun Downs and Bomamoro of Burundi is scheduled to be held on Saturday, September 30, at the Lucas Masterpieces Moribé Stadium.

On the other hand, the results of the African Super League draw were balanced according to the classification that was set for the eight teams, as Moroccan club Wydad will meet Enyimba of Nigeria, Esperance of Tunisia will meet TP Mazembe of the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa will meet Atletico Petroleum Luanda of Angola.

The semi-finals will be held from October 29 to November 1, and the final matches will be on November 5 and 11. Eight clubs will participate in the new tournament, playing 14 matches between them, instead of a version that includes 24 clubs that was previously promoted under the name of the African Super League.
