Sun Corona Facts and Reasons Why We Can’t See Corona

Korona matahari is the outermost part of the atmosphere Sun. On a normal day, the corona is usually not visible because of the bright sunlight. You can only see it if you use a special instrument.

Crown consists of plasma, which is a very hot ionized gas. temperature at corona is around 1,999,726 degrees Celsius. This temperature is even hotter than the surface temperature of the Sun, which is 5,500 degrees Celsius.

The pressure and density of the air in the corona is very low. Even much lower than Earth’s atmosphere. The density of the corona is 10 million lower than the surface of the Sun. This makes the energy produced per cubic centimeter of atmosphere much lower than the rest of the Sun.

Although the density is low, but the temperature is very high it would make astronomers confused. Because the two are contradictory. Astronomers haven’t found the answer yet. Temporary suspicion, the surface of the Sun releases heat bomb molecules that cause the corona to have a very high temperature.

Why is it difficult to see the solar corona?

The corona is difficult to see with the naked eye because it glows more or less just like the Moon. This light will certainly be inferior to the main light of the Sun so it is difficult to see on a normal day. The reason the light is dimmer is due to the low density of the corona.

There are two ways to view the corona, namely with the help of special tools and during a solar eclipse. The first way with the help of a tool, we can use a tool called a coronagraph which is the development of a telescope.

While the second way is to see the corona during a solar eclipse. The moon will cover the sun’s rays from the photosphere. This allows us to observe the corona without the aid of tools because the sun’s light has been completely covered.
