The Sumy OVA urged to remain calm and stated that the details of the incident were being investigated.
“Dear residents of Sumy! Remain calm. All services are working. Details are being clarified! Wait for official information,” the OVA said in a statement.
Explosions in the Sumy region
Since the first days of the war, Russian troops have been regularly shelling border settlements with various types of weapons.
So, on July 13, the invaders fired mortars at the Akhtyrsky district, one person died. Also, Russian DRGs periodically try to enter Ukraine through the border. For example, on June 25, near the village of Rodionovka, Sumy region, the enemy made an unsuccessful attempt to penetrate the DRG through the state border of Ukraine, but retreated with losses.
Due to the fact that shelling has become more frequent in the region, a voluntary evacuation from the 5-kilometer border zone with Russia was announced in the region. The OVA later explained that the evacuation would be voluntary, not forced.
