Libreville, Thursday December 14, 2023 (Infos Gabon) – The heads of state of the Economic Community of Central African States are meeting this Friday in the Equatoguinean capital.

A summit of heads of state of the Economic Community of Central African States (CEMAC) is being held this Friday, December 15, 2023 in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea. Even if we still do not know the subjects on the agenda for this meeting, it cannot be ruled out that the situation in Gabon will be a matter of concern for the leaders of the sub-region. The country having been suspended by this sub-regional organization, following the coup that occurred on August 30.

In addition, Gabon saw its rotating presidency withdrawn and the headquarters of this organization temporarily transferred to Equatorial Guinea. Appointed ECCAS facilitator on the situation in Gabon, the Central African President, Faustin Archange Touadéra, submitted his report last Monday to the Equatoguinean Head of State, Teodoro Obiang Nguema, current President of ECCAS.

As soon as he was inaugurated as transitional president, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema armed himself with his pilgrim’s staff to go to the different capitals of the ECCAS, while waiting for the stopover in Luanda in Angola, as part of a campaign of explanation on the course of events in Gabon, but above all ask for the lifting of the sanctions weighing on his country.
