Some people will look forward to it after a few drizzly weeks: it will be summery again in the coming days. But the high temperatures and many hours of sunshine are also accompanied by dampness and thunderstorms.
The warm period starts on Friday and will last until at least halfway through next week, says Johnny Willemsen of Weerplaza. “The main part is sunshine. Showers are on the program in the night from Friday to Saturday.”
The chance of a heat wave is very small, says Willemsen. “On Friday it can reach just under 30 degrees in the southeast. That will not happen at the weekend either.”
There is a good chance that the ‘thirties’ will be reached early next week. It will then be warmest in North Brabant and Limburg, but the mercury will also rise inland to 30 to 31 degrees.
Cold night from Friday to Saturday
Those who are on the road in the night from Friday to Saturday should expect thunderstorms. Visitors to Lowlands, for example, would therefore be wise to bring a poncho (or a waterproof tent).
It also feels very clammy before and during those showers, says Willemsen. “It doesn’t get colder than 20 degrees at night either. A really sticky night.”
The dampness largely disappears with the thunderstorms. But because it gets hot for several days, it can take a while before the clammy heat has been pulled out of your house.
